22nd Annual TASTE OF OMAHA Presented by Cox

 

Plans are coming together for the 22nd Annual “TASTE OF OMAHA Presented by Cox” Festival of Great Foods & Entertainment, a unique community celebration, showcasing Omaha’s great foods and live entertainment, to be held Friday, May 31st through Sunday, June 2nd, 2019.  The “TASTE OF OMAHA” will be swinging with a 3-day extravaganza and outdoor food festival open to the public and free to attend, thanks to the many partners and sponsors that support the Event.  “We are genuinely excited to be sponsoring Omaha’s Taste of Omaha Festival this year,” said Kim Rowell, Vice President and Omaha Market Leader for Cox Communications. “Taste of Omaha has become a signature summer celebration in our community, providing a terrific opportunity to join with family and friends for a fun-filled weekend of food and entertainment. We look forward to being actively involved in this great Omaha tradition.”  The TASTE is sponsored in part by Hiland Dairy, Nebraska Lottery, Rotella’s Bakery, Veridian Credit Union, Pella Window & Door, Coke, Ramada Plaza by Wyndham, Pinnacle Bank, and Mattress Firm.

“Feature Foods from many of Omaha’s top restaurants, good entertainment and family activities for the kids… and you have the recipe for the TASTE OF OMAHA,” says Mike Mancuso, Festival Director and Event Producer.  “Omaha has a tremendous reputation for fantastic restaurants and food companies”.   The “TASTE OF OMAHA presented by Cox”, has become one of the biggest Annual Events for our city bringing together a dazzling selection of great foods and culinary delights, for people from throughout the Midwest area, to TASTE,  relax and enjoy as a  family activity.

The 2019 “TASTE OF OMAHA presented by Cox”, will again be located on Omaha’s riverfront parks showcasing outstanding Restaurants with exciting live entertainment daily.  The Taste of Omaha Festival was the First Annual Festival to locate in the riverfront at the Heartland of America Park in 1998, with tremendous response to this FREE Festival.  Then in 2005, the Taste of Omaha was the First Festival to expand utilizing the new bridge connecting to the Boardwalk and Lewis & Clark Landing with additional stages and restaurants.

This year the Annual Event will add more entertainment for everyone’s taste featuring stages and attractions throughout the beautiful Riverfront.  All Entertainment during the 3-day extravaganza is free to attend. The Taste of Omaha offers continuous Free Concerts all weekend long including Top National Entertainers combined with the best popular area bands and musicians will again be continuously performing throughout the Festival.

 

Tribute to Queen – Fri day at  9 PM

Killer Queen re-create the music of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band – Queen!  Killer Queen sings their greatest hits selling over 300 million albums with 18 number one hits including: “Another One Bites the Dust”, “Bohemian  Rhapsody”, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, “Fat Bottom Girls”, “Fun It”, “It’s  Late”, “Keep Yourself Alive”, “Killer Queen”, “Need Your Lovin’ Tonight”, “Somebody to Love”, “Stone Cold Crazy”, “Tie Your Mother Down, Under Pressure”,  “We Are the Champions”, “We Will Rock You ” and “You’re My Best Friend”.

 

 

Grammy Winner   Rick Derringer – Fri  at 9 PM

Legendary Rick Derringer is an American guitarist, vocalist and Grammy Award-winning producer. First with the McCoys as lead vocals for the #1 hit “Hang On Sloopy”. He then scored a blues rock hit with “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo”. He worked with brothers Edgar and Johnny Winter performing such classic hits as “Free Ride” and “Frankenstein”. He produced  “Real American” for WWF’s Hulk Hogan as well as “Weird Al” Yankovic’s “Eat It” and “Fat”.

 

Disco Lady starring  Maxine Nightingale – Saturday  at 6:30PM & 9:30PM

Maxine debuted the multi-platinum pop single  “Right Back Where We Started From” followed by another #1 hit single “Lead Me On” which stayed on the top on Billboard Charts for a record breaking 47 weeks and recently placed at #11 All Time Contemporary Songs from the Past Century.  Maxine also performs classics  “I Love the Nightlife,” a Miami Sound Machine medley “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You”,  “Turn the Beat Around” and songs she recorded for Donna Summer  “On the Radio,” “Hot Stuff” and “Bad Girls”, plus more.

 

Elton Dan  & The Rocket Band – Saturday at  9 PM    – with Fireworks Finale

THE WORLD’S MOST AUTHENTIC ZZ TOP CONCERT RECREATION, as well as being one of America’s top touring tribute productions. For a decade-plus, these three gents based out of Kansas City have taken their show coast to coast performing at major venues and events across our land. Rolling up with full production and delivering the goods: The desert back drop, replica mic stands, drum kit, triple stacked speaker cabinets, spinning fuzzy guitars, and of course the trademark ZZ TOP attire and persona. But most importantly the uncanny renditions of over twenty charted hits that have helped shape the face of American music and culture.

Between eating food bites and enjoying the music, you can watch cooking demonstrations, browse the festival displays, taste wines in the Barefoot Wine Gardens, or simply relax in the Miller Lite Beer Gardens overlooking the beautiful fountain and riverfront, all at one time and one place. There is also plenty of Family Entertainment in the Hiland Dairy Family Village, including amusement rides for the kids, balloons, face painting, and a great view of the Festival from the Big Ferris Wheel. Again this year, the CocoKey KidZone Stage will offer continuous performances of comedy, magic, exotic animals and more entertainment for the children including: Poppin’ Penelope, the Amazing Lindy, Travis Wizardry Magic Show, Exotic Animals, Nebraska Native Raptors, Anthony’s Ballistic Balloons & Omaha Street Percussion. The Festival also Spotlight’s Great Omaha Chefs on the Culinary Chef Stage featuring demonstrations by some of Omaha’s best chefs.

The Festival boils down to one thing, and that’s the food. Restaurants of all varieties will pitch their tents at the “TASTE OF OMAHA presented by Cox” grounds for 3 days, cooking the specialty items that have made them some of the favorites in the Omaha area. All types of food will be served at the “TASTE” – from Omaha’s pizza to juicy barbecued ribs. So put your taste buds on alert now because they will get a workout at the “TASTE OF OMAHA presented by Cox”. The Festival offers each person an opportunity to taste a wide selection of Omaha’s beloved restaurant dishes including Mexican, Italian, Greek, Oriental, Mediterranean, Polish as well as Continental and American cuisine. After tasting all of these delightful foods, you’ll probably want to top it all off with one of the fabulous desserts offered, from your favorite ice cream flavor to cheesecake, that is sure to make your day at the “Taste” complete.
