Dario is a French classically trained chef, he attended the French Culinary Institute in New York. He has become one of Omaha’s most noted chefs and a 2010 semifinalist JAMES BEARD AWARD.

Chef DARIO SCHICKE, his colleagues agree, was a catalyst in re-plotting Omaha’s culinary map. He and his wife Amy opened their first Omaha restaurant, Dario’s Brasserie, in 2006 and opened Avoli Osteria in July 2013. Avoli is a Northern Italian restaurant, located in the historic Omaha neighborhood of Dundee. A dining experience at Avoli will remind you of a trip to Italy or help you imagine what eating in Italy would be like. The name Avoli comes from combining their daughters names, Ava & Olivia. Avoli’s wine list contains only wines you find in the Northern regions of Italy. An Italian restaurant with a modern twist, the food consists of many local ingredients and what they can’t find locally, they import from Italy. Dario is from Sarajevo, Bosnia and his wife grew up in Kearney, Nebraska. They met in Munich, Germany where they were married, moved to New York City where they lived for many years until September 11, 2001.

Chef Glenn Wheeler

SPENCER’S

Chef Glenn Wheeler has been a culinary force on the Omaha Restaurant scene for the last 16 years. Chef Wheeler’s passion for food started in his mother’s kitchen at a early age. In his teens he started working in restaurants in Michigan City, Indiana. Chef Wheeler attended the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago.

Chef Wheeler has worked in New Orleans under noted chef Susan Spicer, as well as stages in many well known kitchens in cities like Minneapolis, New York City, Los Angeles and Miami. Chef Wheeler was the two time “Taste of Elegance “ winner for the state of Nebraska. He has been sponsored by the Pork Board at Food and Wine magazine’s “Classic at Aspen.” He has opened many of Omaha’s top restaurants including Liberty Tavern at the 4 Diamond Hilton Omaha, where he cooked for presidents and many celebrities. In addition, he has manned the kitchens of Maxine’s , opening chef for both Omaha Prime and Passport restaurants and the ground breaking Bomba Dia restaurant as well as Chef Glenn’s namesake Wheeler’s. Chef Wheeler joined on with Spencer’s For Steaks and Chops in May of 2010. He infuses his flavor packed cooking style into weekend chef’s Tasting Menus and the monthly wine maker dinners as well as seasonal, locally sourced items on the Spencer ‘s dinner menu.

1:00 PM ~ “Ice Carving Demonstration”

Be dazzled as a BLOCK of Ice gets transformed into a beautiful piece of Art.

 

2:30 PM – “Heavenly Waffles, a new twist on an old favorite”

Presented by Chef Bob Haney as he will demonstrate how to make the best waffles you ever had!
